First time running since hurting my ankle. Went okay, but by the end it was sore. Also, there was a basketball clinic going on, so the run was even slower than it would have been due to weaving in and out a bit.
Back Squat 192.5 kg (424.2 lbs) 197.5 kg (435.2 lbs) - PR by 10 lbs 202.5 kg (446.2 lbs) - PR by 21 lbs
Bench Press 120 kg (264.5 lbs) 125 kg (275.5 lbs) - PR by 0.5 lbs 130 kg (286.5 lbs) - PR
Deadlift 225 kg (496 lbs) 235 kg (518 lbs) 245 kg (540 lbs) - PR by 15 lbs
This was a mostly conservative approach - I had done all my openers for either 3 x 5 or 1 x 5 within the last month, and my jumps weren't that big. On squat, my first rep isn't usually all that hot (although they all felt good at the meet), and all the benches are paused at the bottom (plus elbow issues), so my jumps on those lifts were not large, and on deadlift, the one lift were my first rep is solid and I don't have any associated pain (as in the bench), I correspondingly made bigger jumps.
All in all - a really good day. I took 2nd in my weight class - kind of a funny story on that one. A guy named Ken Rubin was at the meet - he normally competes equipped, and he's a big time lifter - worlds, nationals, etc. He was actually interviewed for the evening news at the Cornhusker State Games since that was supposed to be a warm-up for his trip to worlds or nationals (can't remember which).
Anyway, Ken showed up at this meet (incidentally, we were at Concordia, Seward together - he was 2 years behind me) - he's about 2-3 inches shorter and 10 pounds heavier. The guy is jacked. He intended to compete equipped, but his final squat would have probably been in the 800s (lbs), and we actually didn't have enough kilo plates at the meet to accommodate that. As a result, he competed raw . . . in my weight class. His final squat was something in the 600s (I think, maybe 700s), his bench was big (400s or 500s), and his final deadlift was 722. So, although it was a close battle, I finished second.
Well, that was Phil (posting as M.S.C.L.) - I'm uploading the powerlifting video (to youtube) of the students who went yesterday, so I'm already signed into that account.
They had a good time. We had a few 1st and 2nd place medals, and they were all complemented on their squat technique form by various people there. The meet was . . . so long. We showed up at 7 and left at 7:20 or so. Much longer than the Cornhusker State Games, but it was still a good experience. I also got to meet the Orchard coach (and a few others) - this is nice since I'm on his email list now, and he puts on a big, predominantly high school-age meet in the spring. There's also a girls-only meet in April, and I definitely think we'll have some girls interested in that (it's only push-pull, i.e., bench and deadlift, but that's ok, and as squatting takes, by far, the largest portion of the meet, it'll be a much shorter meet).

"squat technique form"
Sheesh. A bit redundant.
