Location: CHS (football field)
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Handstand walk 100 yards in as few rounds as possible.
1 round is completed whenever you come down out of your handstand. Each handstand (i.e., each round) will count for a minimum of 1 yard, so the maximum possible number of rounds is 100.
The time and location are still a bit in flux at this point, so if you plan on showing up, it'd be a good idea to contact me Friday afternoon or evening to get the latest information.

Well. This one looks interesting! And it looks like something I can do since I don't have the regular weightlifting supplies here in She-town. So...literally walking on the hands?? Do you have a yardstick with you and move a yard forward if you only do a handstand? What if you go sideways? Isn't it hard on the wrists?? Keep in mind, these are all questions I am asking after actually trying walking on said hands. Didn't go too well.
So funny!!! I wish I had been there when you were first trying it! Although, now that I think of it, I haven't tried it myself yet. Hmmmm...
I'm not planning on bringing a yardstick or anything...but Phil might. Yes, I can totally see that happening. But that doesn't mean I'll use it.
If you go sideways a LOT, you should start out facing sideways then you'll make more progress toward your goal. =)
It is hard on the wrists, but easier than a gym floor, I'd imagine.
Also, for the record, if I fall over and end up doing a somersault, I will be standing up from there and continuing. =)
I am not bringing a yardstick, although that's an excellent idea that I hadn't thought of yet.
Here's my plan for estimating 1 yard:
1. If I come back down on my feet, I'll talk one large step forward. I suppose I could also measure off 3 of my "foot-lengths" since each of my feet (in shoes) measure approximately 12 inches (I think they're actually a bit short of 12 inches, but close enough).
2. Similar to Kiley - if I go over and roll out of my handstand (or fall flat on my back), then I'll go from there.
If I do 100 handstands and still haven't reached the end zone, I'll just stop. So . . . a) I hope it doesn't take me 100 handstands, and b) I really hope I don't lose count.
A final note - when I first typed "my feet" in #1 above, I actually typed "me feet." When I went back and caught it by reading ". . . since each of me feet . . .," I immediately started talking in a high-pitched Irish voice - in my head.
34 at the half way point. Then 39 I think on the second half. meh.
60 handstands.
35 on the 1st half, 25 on the second half.
Plenty of room for improvement (obviously), but it was fun, and the second half went quite a bit better than the numbers would indicate.
Also - Kiley - I'd like to point out (again) that your second half was also better than your first half despite those numbers. So . . . meh back atchya.
:) So...I did it. It turns out my parents' backyard is only 215 feet long, so I had to go back another 85 ft. And naturally I lost count somewhere in the process. So, I don't really know how I did, but I was pretty pleased with my progress.
